School, college, tuitions, extra-curricular classes, sports, dates, outing with friends – Today’s generation has a lot on their plates. And they want to excel in everything they do. Thus, life is a non-stop race, and who has time to stop?
But while trying to live the life to fullest, are we forgetting the importance of personal hygiene? A quick shower after the sports practice, or a hurried splash of water on face before bed – is all this enough to ensure that the yucky dirty nasties like body odour, acne, and skin infections stay away from us?
And who says personal care is meant for females only? Why should girls have all the fun, eh? And all the work too to look and feel amazing. Personal hygiene is a habit that needs to build early and, in all genders, equally. But when we hit puberty, it becomes even more critical habit to develop. It should be like ABC and 123 for a toddler – the BASICS!
Let’s have a look at the bare minimum that each of us should ensure good personal hygiene.
Not just brush – Floss too!
We all ensure that we brush our teeth twice daily, that’s what mommy and daddy taught us since childhood, right! But we sometimes underestimate the power of flossing. The plaque that builds in between the gaps of our teeth can lead to decaying and damaging the teeth enamel. Thus, flossing and removing that plaque is also as important as brushing. And DAILY!
Change clothes daily
Haven’t we all heard that saying –denim should be washed only once a month? Don’t believe everything you hear puh-leez. The bacteria lingering in your clothes from all the sweat and exposure to pollution can cause fungal and bacterial infection to your skin. Re-wearing, an external layer of clothing such as a jacket or sweater, is a different thing, as it doesn’t touch your skin. But the undergarments and daily clothes should be changed regularly.
Shower, if needed twice
Yes, and don’t make it a quick one. Use a non-toxic, age-appropriate body wash and ensure to clean each and every corner of the body. If you are into sports and, as a result, sweat, take a (Sports DeoDorant) shower afterwards to wash away the sweat. During summers, take an additional shower before bed, even if without a body wash.
Deodorant – not an antiperspirant (google why). And not just once. As many times as needed throughout the day. The beauty of non-toxic deodorants that are made using ingredients derived from nature – deodorants such as Hurricane, Sweet as Sin, Wild Child, and Whoosh is that you can use them as many times as needed, and directly on the skin and it will still not cause any harm to your skin.
Wash and moisturize your face twice
With puberty, the body undergoes a lot of changes. And the most significant issue that hits us is A-C-N-E. And due to our busy lifestyle and regular outings, the skin also becomes dull and tanned. Make sure to wash off that layer of tan, dust, dirt, and grime to have healthy skin. Go for Aloe Vera Face Wash for acne-prone skin, and in case your skin has tan and looks dull, try out the Activated Charcoal face Wash. Pat dry and apply a non-toxic, age-appropriate moisturiser on your face.
Exfoliate at least twice a week
Sometimes washing the face is not enough. Open pores on our face can be a breeding ground for acne-causing bacteria. It would be best if you had a dirt magnet made of natural and gentle ingredients. For acne-prone skin, a clay-based face pack such as Acne Warrior and for skin begging you to exfoliate it and get it’s natural glow back, Go Glow face pack are must as a part of your hygiene kit! Remember, while removing any face pack, wet tour fingers, and gently rub it on the face to help exfoliate. Oh, and did we mention? Both these face packs are ‘Voted Product of The Year 2020’ in a nationwide survey conducted by Neilson.
